Pictured: In this classic sports portrait, one of the greatest ever made of an athlete in decline, Mickey Mantle eloquently flings his batting helmet away in disgust after a weak at-bat in 1965. Slowed by seemingly endless injuries, Mantle hit only .255 and 19 home runs that season, and retired less than four years later.
